Getting the ball Rolling

Hey everyone,

As I’m sure most of you understand it’s rather tricky to get and keep the ball rolling when the Focus Filmworks team is separated from one another by as far as 90 miles. However, that being said, we are still trying to get everything going ready for Easter and summer. We plan on filming a lot over the next 12 months, as well as rebooting an old project of ours. Sure, we say this every year, but we’ve honestly never done more planning for a project before, even paid gigs. Distance is the only thing in the way right now.

Thankfully, even with the distance issue, we are able to continue with pre-production through multiple Skype meetings and constantly being in contact with one another, but when it comes down to production we are going to be very limited for time. I don’t have a lot of time to go home, where Jon and Max are, so when I’m back we try to make the most of the little time we get to spend together. With Jon and Max working a lot, it’s also difficult to prioritise FTA and any other projects we want to do over work and, in my case, university.

Jon and I have been talking a lot today and we’ve come up with a couple of new ideas to keep us motivated and to make other people show some kind of interest in us. Not only will this pump the audience up a bit (potentially) but it’ll mean we’ll have to follow through thus giving us some kind of driving force, which is nice.

The only thing I can really say right now is “Google Hangout,” “public production meetings” and “character stills.” We have more promotion ideas in the works, but we need to refine them a little more before we make a final decision. Those three, however, are going to be things eventually.

That’s all for now.
Bevan.

And we’re back!

Hey everyone!

Sorry for the tremendous delay with updates and repairing the site. Here are the basic details of what happened:

- Attempted creation of  FTA WordPress site
- Attempted to merge with existing WordPress dashboard
- Merge failed, logins became unresponsive
- Huge delay because Bevan is lazy
- Delete all WordPress files
- Delete SQL database
- Restore previously backed up WordPress files
- Restore previously backed up SQL database files
- Attempt to log in
- Run some tests
- Post this

Proper Focus Filmworks and For The Army updates to follow. Sorry again for the delay, but our site is now back up and running as before. We’ll attempt the merge again after further local tests and then remote tests on a separate server.

Thank you!
Bevan

The Return – Explained

Hello everyone!

Recently the amazing people over at ROFLMAO Productions announced their next project; Pure Pwnage: Teh Movie. This means that our old idea, For The Army, is being rebooted and recreated.

We’re using our original story, revamping the script, boosting the production values (because this time we’re actually going to have a budget), ironing out all the little creases and breaking down those smaller walls that we so quickly ran into last time. We’re going to have better acting, better quality and refined action dynamics, etc.

We’re currently discussing the basic details from two different areas of the country, due to Bevan being at university in Southampton, and working out how the pre-production is going to be handled. We have lots to sort in a surprisingly short amount of time.

This is all we can tell you for now. If you haven’t seen our latest video, The Return, you can do so now. Remember to follow us on Twitter and like us on Facebook for regular-ish updates.

Game on.
Focus Filmworks.

Website Down-Time

Hello everyone!

Recently we’ve been having some issues with our domain hosts (not to be confused with our incredible website hosts, Falcoda Internet) and we weren’t, for a long time, able to renew our domain. We almost lost it. Continue reading
